How can you improve your parenting sense?

Jennifer Zavadil-Ryan, MSW/LSW, and therapist at Best Point, recently took the course and offered her thoughts. She found value in the course not only for treatment purposes but as a parent as well.
“I LOVED IT! As a therapist, a lot of the skills are ones we know. It was a phenomenal review, reinforcement, and new skills to add. I found how she presented it, and her examples helped put things together for me in ways I hadn’t before. For Example, she taught the TIPP DBT skill and explained it differently than I had learned it to an extent. It made so much more sense and really clicked for me.
Same with her progressive muscle relaxation. I’ve literally never found that skill to be at all helpful. However, doing it with her, I had that “AHA” moment of how to do it correctly. Radical acceptance- let’s just say- that’s a skill I need to work on myself! And one, I have a particular client I will be working on it with for a specific issue!
I gained a lot from it! I feel like Dr. Arthur packed what would be in a several hour training into some of those segments. Which was awesome! It was great, especially since it was on video to rewind or rewatch to get it all. She presented it in a very understandable manner. I loved how she modeled how to role play distressing/anxiety provoking situations with kids to “practice ahead.” All and all, I’d say, she really helped expand on skills I needed much more fine tuning on!”
